 U.S. Policy and Israel/Palestine

Israel recently accused 6 Palestinian NGOs of terrorism. They weren’t the first. In 2001, the U.S. shut down the Holy Land Foundation (HLF), the largest Muslim charity in the U.S., and later charged 5 of its leaders with providing material support for terrorism. In fact, the Palestinian charities they funded were supported by the U.S. government. Yet HLF leaders are serving sentences of up to 65 years in federal prison. Join us on Zoom for a program offering background on the case and its implications for civil liberties in the United States and for justice for Palestinians.

Speakers:

  • Asma Elashi, daughter of Ghassan Elashi, co-founder of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development
  • Zia Jaffrey, journalist and author, M.F.A. faculty, The New School
  • John Bryant, former U.S. Congressman (Dem., Texas-5)
