On Thursday, October 16, we in Jewish Voice for Peace of Northern New Jersey brought roughly 45 Jews and their allies together to occupy the lobby of One Gateway Plaza, the building in Newark, NJ where Senator Cory Booker’s office is located, for over an hour to call out Senator Booker for his consistent funding of arms to Israel and the genocide in Gaza, his refusal to speak with, represent, or advocate for his constituents with these concerns, especially Palestinian New Jerseyans. Participants came with signs, banners, chants, songs, poetry, and speeches to illustrate their anger at the Senator’s hypocrisy for claiming to champion human rights and democracy and to demand that Senator Booker finally stand up for justice!
